Betzy Butron is a Peruvian paediatrician and public health professional who worked for the office of the World Health Organization for the Americas as the regional advisor on child health until her retirement in September 2023. Betzy has more than 20 years of experience providing technical support on public policy, strategies and interventions for the promotion of early childhood development, the redesign of the child health and well-being agenda, prevention of violence against children, and led regional initiatives on parenting interventions, fatherhood and men's participation in caregiving, the monitoring of child development in health services, and the uptake of effective clinical interventions addressing the prevalent causes of morbidity and mortality. She resides in Lima, Peru with her husband, son, and tubby cat, Ginger.
